Prerequisites and/or Postrequisites:
This class is specifically for scouts 12 and older. BSA recommends that this class be held for scouts in the same age range due to the discussions.
The class will meet virtually using Google Meet. It's pretty much like Zoom, but no downloads and no 45-minute time limit. The link for the class will be emailed the day of the class. Please try to log in 10 minutes before the class to make sure everything works. The class will end by 9 pm. Likely much earlier.
The workbook for the class can be found at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/merit_badge_reqandres/CitizenshipSociety_ScoutReqs.pdf. PLEASE look over this before class. The only thing you'll need to think about before class is:
Req 1: If you don't know any of the definitions, google them before class.
Req 8: Think about an event that had a positive outcome on how society viewed a group of people (Example: Civil Rights Movement).
The other requirements require that you discuss a certain event or scenario. This class will go quicker if you have a few ideas ready.
Important things for this class:
* No uniforms are required for the class.
* This is a small class, but this will hopefully allow more discussion
* Anything said in the class, stays in the class.
* The counselor will guide the discussions, but will not steer the conversation
* You likely will hear various viewpoints during the class. Please remain respectful when sharing your views and when hearing the views of others.
